Shot in the Ukumehame area, this is a view of the West Maui Mountains from off shore. Yes, this is a composite image. The below shot was taken 6 seconds before the above shot. This gave the photographer a chance to refocus to make the sharpest image possible both above and below. This image was the cover shot for the September/October 2010 issue of Maui no ka oi magazine and is fast becoming one of Michael's most popular turtle images. The peaceful calm of the image is passed on to the viewer and makes it a soothing piece for an office or favorite room in the home. The 48" x 48" aluminum version on display in the Maui Gallery is nothing short of spectacular.
